Understanding Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)

 Are you always TIRED? Do you SNORE loudly? or perhaps do you know someone who does?

Simple Questionaire: -

1. Do you gasp, choke or stop breathing during sleep?       Yes /No
2. Do you snore loudly and disturb your bed partner or other members of your household at night?                                                                              Yes / No
3. Do you feel tired and unrefreshed during the day?           Yes / No
4. Are you overweight?                                                                      Yes / No
5. Do you have high blood pressure?                                            Yes / No

If you answered ‘Yes’ to two or more of the above, it is likely you are amongst the 90% of unsuspecting OSA sufferers.

What is Sleep Apnea?

Obstructive Sleep Apnea or OSA is a life-threatening condition that causes a person’s upper airway to collapse and stop breathing repeatedly during sleep. This results in frequent arousals from sleep and the body does not get enough oxygen.

The most common sign of OSA is loud disruptive snoring, choking/gasping for air with pauses in breathing during sleep.

What happens if OSA is left Untreated?
 
 Increased Risks of:-
- High Blood Pressure
- Heart Disease
- Heart Attack
- Stroke
- Insulin-resistant Diabetes
- Fatigue-related motor or work accidents
- Poor Quality of Life

What can I do if OSA is suspected?
